I had the honor and privilege to work with Ramon in education. Never in my mind would I have ever thought that I would have the chance to get to know this exceptional person. I was familiar with Ramon's work from the time he was an editorial cartoonist for a RGV newspaper. I can honestly say that I eagerly looked forward to each of his creations... curiously awaiting what he was going to come up with next. He called things like he saw it and he wasn't afraid to express his viewpoints about issues taking place in our communities... many times saying things so many other people were afraid or weren't willing to share. It was all done through the genius of his artwork... through the strokes of his pencils and pens. He still continues to do the same with his Teacher Toons. He has a fun and hilarious way of expressing things that we as educators encounter on a day to day basis. I still look forward to seeing what else he'll come up with. I've even been lucky enough to have my own little personal sketch drawn for me by him about a funny little incident that happened to me during the time I worked with him.
